As part of Ringling College’s Department of Motion Design, this project was created for the 'Compositing for 3D' course. While Nickelodeon supplied our class with original plate footage, stock imagery, and animated assets from the KCA2020 Hero Spot, Our assignment was to replicate the composite as closely as possible.
I used Nuke for compositing and AfterEffects for editing and refine animated assets.
(During this Project, Nickelodeon Animation Director Timothy Lines, and VFX Supervisor Ish Nazmi reviewed and critiqued our work.)
Keying and Rotoscoping: Removed green screens and refined edges for seamless integration.
Camera Tracking and Match-Moving: Ensured accurate alignment of 2D elements with live-action footage.
Color Correction and Grading: Adjusted and enhanced color tones to maintain visual consistency and achieve the desired look.
Lens Effects: Added camera lens effects such as lens dirt and light glow for a cinematic finish.
Compositing: Integrated Chance (character/element) into the forum background.
Roto Paint: Performed detailed touch-ups and object removals to finalize the composition.
The animated components were contributed by Nickelodeon-employed artists 2020:
